Job Responsibilities
ll officers of the Department will, at all times, within the jurisdictional limits, endeavor to prevent crime, preserve the peace, protect life and property, detect and arrest violators of the law, and enforce the laws of the United States, the State of Wyoming, and all local ordinances, in accordance with the rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and orders of the jurisdiction and the Department. Patrol Officers must obtain knowledge in all areas of laws, regulations, police methods, procedures and techniques. Must be able to conduct critical thinking and have problem solving skills. Communication and interpersonal skills are key in police related incidents. All patrol officers are required to obtain certification through the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy within one (1) year of hire and successfully complete the Field Training Officer (FTO) program.
Qualifications
Be a US Citizen; Be at least 21 Years old; Possess Driver’s License; High School Diploma/Equivalent; Pass Written Exam; Pass Physical Fitness Exam; Pass Physical; Pass Psychological Exam; Pass Background Check.
Special Training/Skills Desired
Patrol Officers are considered first responders. They are not part of the administration. Meet the expectations of the Chief of Police and Patrol Sergeant to include appearance, timely report submissions, adheres to policy, etc.; Follow instructions and activities assigned by the Patrol Sergeant; Completes reports accurately; Participates in problem solving and program development; Responds to emergent and non-emergent calls for service in a prompt and professional manner; Proactively engages in the community daily; Makes physical arrests, issues citations and prepares affidavits for criminal complaints; Any additional duty assignments as requested by the Chief of Police or Patrol Sergeant. This includes, firearms, FTO, TASER, Custody and Control, etc.
Compensation

Water Treatment Plant & Waste Water Treatment Plant
| Requirements: The Town of Thermopolis is accepting applications for a permanent, full time water treatment plant and wastewater lagoon operator. The position will include the operation of a Level 3 water treatment plant and wastewater lagoon system. Position requires manual labor and working various shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on call hours. The right candidate must be self-motivated and able to follow written and oral instructions. This position does involve working around hazardous chemicals, high voltage equipment and working under adverse conditions. The Town of Thermopolis offers a benefit package including life, medical, dental and vision insurance and contributes to the Wyoming Retirement System. Streets Dept. & Equipment Operator
| Responsibilities: The Town of Thermopolis is seeking motivated individuals for the Public Works/Streets department/equipment operator. Under the direction of the Streets Supervisor, the position performs a variety of duties to repair and maintain town infrastructure, including sewer, water, streets, storm drainage, parks, building facilities and landfill operation. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications are a high school diploma, the ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s license, and WDEQ water and sewer certification within 6 months of probation period.
